In 2007, when the Department of Health made a visit to Mary Chiles Hospital, It was agreed upon that for the hospital to get a level 4 accreditation from level 3, they have to open up atleast one more residency training program aside from the existing four which are the pedia, internal medicine, surgery, and ob. So what Dr. Eduardo and Rolando Florendo did was talk to Dr. Carlos Buendia to convince him to establish the Department of Dental Medicine, Section of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
Dr. Buendia then gave it some thought and after a few months, they started to do the paper works and also started to establish the department office which is located on the 2nd floor of the said hospital. The first batch of trainees started march of the same year. From that point on, the Department of Dental Medicine, Section of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery was opened.

Can a foreigner, say a Nepali, apply for residency training in OMS here in the Philippines?
I don’t think so. You can take up ortho, prostho, endo and perio in UE, CEU and UP but not surgery.
