The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announces that 509 out of 1,117 passed the May 2018 Dentist Licensure Examination (Written Phase) and 509 out of 521 passed the Dentist Licensure Examination (Practical Phase) given by the Board of Dentistry in Manila last May 2018.

The Board of Dentistry is composed of Dr. Roberto M. Tajonera, Officer-In-Charge (inhibited); Dr. Rannier F. Reyes, Dr. Melinda L. Garcia, Dr. Gloria M. Bumanlag and
Dr. Maria Jona D. Godoy, Members.

From June 13 to June 22, 2018, registration for the issuance of Professional Identification Card (ID) and Certificate of Registration will be done on-line. Please go to www. prc. gov . ph and follow instructions for initial registration. Those who will register are required to bring the following: downloaded duly accomplished Oath Form or Panunumpa ng Propesyonal, notice of admission (for identification only), 2 pieces passport sized pictures (colored with white background and complete name tag), 2 sets of documentary stamps and 1 piece short brown envelope. Successful examinees should personally register and sign in the Roster of Registered Professionals.

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announces that 762 out of 1,484 passed the theoretical phase of the Dentist Licensure Examination given by the Board of Dentistry in Manila this December 2017.

The members of the Board of Dentistry who gave the licensure examination are Dr. Roberto M. Tajonera, Officer-In-Charge; Dr. Rannier F. Reyes, Dr. Melinda L. Garcia, Dr. Gloria M. Bumanlag and Dr. Maria Jona D. Godoy, Members.

The results were released in two (2) working days after the last day of examination.

The successful examinees who passed the theoretical phase are advised to pay their practical examination fee of P400 at PRC. Application for practical examination will be on December 12 – 22, 2017

I am very honored to invite you to the 109th Philippine Dental Association Annual Convention and Scientific Meeting with the theme, “Intensifying Professionalism in Synergy with Dental Science and Technology”. In line with this, the Philippines will play host to the 40th Asia Pacific Dental Congress and we are very fortunate to jointly hold the two congresses from May 7-11, 2018 at the SMX Convention Center, Seashell Lane Mall of Asia.

Our theme for this year aptly describes, how we as dental professionals, continually strive for excellence in whatever field of specialty we may be into.

Dr. German Ramirez-Yañez (DDS, MDSc, MS, PhD, FRCDC) is a Pediatric Dentist Certified by the Royal College of Dentists of Canada. Between his areas of expertise, he has a special interest in intervening early when a problem in the children’s bite is developing.

Dr. Ramirez-Yañez is Associated Pediatric Dentist in Aurora Kids Dentistry in Aurora, Ontario, Canada, and he is associated with the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Canada, as Adjunct Professor in the Department of Oral Biology. He has over 20 years of experience treating malocclusions at early age with a functional approach.

Dr. Ramirez-Yañez was trained in Orthodontics and Functional Orthopedics in Brazil, and he has a Master and PhD in Oral Biology from the University of Queensland, Australia. He recently completed another Master of Sciences with a major in Craniofacial Pain and Sleep Disorders in Tufts Universitv, Boston, USA.

Dr. Ramirez-Yañez has published more than 20 scientific articles in peer-review journals about functional appliances and the biological rationale for functional treatment of malocclusions and early intervention. He is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Dentistry and Oral Health and the Journal of Orthodontic Science and Practice.

He is the author of the book “Early Treatment of Malocclusions: Prevention and Interception in Primary Dentition”, as well as co-author of the book “The Trainer System: A Myofunctional Approach to treat malocclusions”. www.kidsmalocclusions.com
